Individual Counseling

Just as we are compelled to understand the world around us, I believe we also yearn for a better understanding of ourselves. Many of us have unresolved feelings about our past experiences and relationships that inform our present way of life. Therapy provides us with a space to bravely engage in self discovery that can support mental, emotional, and spiritual health. In individual therapy, I work to help clients honor their authenticity and intentionally forge their own path to create a meaningful and fulfilling life.

I provide long-term individual therapy on a weekly basis for adolescents (13+) and adults. When working with adolescents, I provide developmentally-informed services that help foster wellness and growth. While I work with clients with diverse interests and goals, many of my clients come to me to address concerns in the areas listed below.

Areas of Specialization

  • Anxiety

Living with anxiety can feel like being in a constant state of tension or unease, leaving you feeling isolated and trapped in your own thoughts. My goal is to empower clients experiencing general, social, and dating-related anxiety to navigate their anxiety with confidence and resilience, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life. Together, we explore the underlying causes of anxiety, develop practical coping strategies, and work towards achieving a sense of calm and control.

  • Life After College

The transition out of college and into the next phase of life can be both exciting and overwhelming due to significant life changes such as starting a career, building new relationships, and finding a sense of purpose and direction. In therapy, I help young adults process the uncertainties and pressures that come with this transition, offering guidance and strategies to manage anxiety, build confidence, and make informed decisions about the future. Together, we work to make this transition an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and alignment.

  • Gender, Sexuality, & Culture

We all hold unique identities that inform our experience of the world and ourselves. I provide a supportive and affirming space for clients to explore their sexual, gender, and cultural identities - as both an individual and community member. Whether you're questioning, discovering, or affirming your identity, we will work together to explore your experiences, challenges, and strengths. Through our work, I aim to empower you to embrace your true self and live authentically, with confidence and pride.

  • Intergenerational Trauma

Intergenerational trauma refers to the psychological and emotional effects of trauma that are passed down from one generation to the next. Trauma can be transmitted in various ways, including through learned behaviors, emotional responses, and family dynamics. I support clients in the process of understanding these inherited patterns and how they impact your life today. Through therapy, we’ll heal these connections, empowering you to break the cycle of trauma and foster a healthier, more fulfilling life.

  • Anger and Resentment

Anger is a powerful emotion that often triggers the body’s "fight or flight" response. As a result, unprocessed anger and lingering resentments can increase our physical and emotional stress. However, anger is not inherently negative. It can be a signal that something in our environment or within ourselves needs attention. The key is how we choose to handle this emotion. I support clients in recognizing their anger, understanding its source, and choosing a healthy, constructive outlet for it.

  • Adolescent Therapy

I know from experience that the teenage years are a time of significant change, growth, and sometimes confusion. Adolescents face unique challenges as they navigate identity, relationships, school pressures, and the transition to adulthood. I create a safe and understanding environment where teens can express themselves freely and explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we address issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and peer relationships, helping them develop healthy coping strategies, resilience, and a strong sense of self.

Pricing

My fees are generally set at $200/ individual therapy session. I accept cash, check, or credit. Please see the insurance statement below and check with your provider to see if you have "out-of-network" benefits if you are seeking insurance reimbursement, as I am not an in-network provider. Please note that I do not have any sliding scale availability at this time.

Using Out-of-network benefits: Clinical Services may be covered in part or in full by your health insurance plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking your provider these questions:

  • Do I have "out-of-network" mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • What is my "co-insurance"?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care doctor?

  • In instances where out-of-network benefits are covered, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service and your insurance will reimburse your expenses.

Benefits to Paying out of Pocket:

Insurance companies mandate a diagnosis, oversee your health records, and may seek access to your information while in therapy. They also may limit your coverage to a set number of therapy sessions per year, regardless of what you're going through. When considering the implications of using insurance, paying out-of-pocket is a better fit for some. Please feel free to call to further discuss any questions.
